πΊπ¬Β Deputy Speaker Tayebwa tips Ugandans on how to fight Malaria
πDeputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has advised Ugandans to grow mosquito repellant plants and clear bushes around their homes to fight malaria. Tayebwa was Sunday leading the Parliament Walk intended to raise awareness in the fight against malaria. Tayebwa says the fight against Malaria is not only about money but also about mobilisation of communities and sensitization of the people.
βWe must mobilise our communities to join the war against malaria. Letβs sensitise our people to stop using mosquito nets for fishing, harvesting coffee, making βmalwa, and trapping βNsenene-Eswaβ. It doesnβt have to be about money all the time; letβs clear all the bushes around our homes. Letβs use plants in our homes that are mosquito repellents. This is not a fight for only Uganda; 95% of the people who die of malaria are from Africa,β he tweeted.
πΊπ¬ Bobi Wine should enrol to Kyankwanzi for ideological orientation- NRM’s Emmanuel Ddombo
πThe Deputy Director for Communication at the NRM secretariat, Emmanuel Dombo hasΒ challenged National Unity Platform Party president Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine to enrol for ideological reorientation at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi before rushing to study law. According to Dombo, Bobi Wine urgently requires ideological sharpening so as to be equipped with the consciousness to interpret governance and leadership issues in a critical manner.
βI encourage Kyagulanyi to go to Kyankwanzi for a serious political education course, which I believe can help to shape his debates on the issues of governance,β he said.
Dombo noted that Kyagulanyi has oftentimes exhibited a low level of articulation while debating issues of governance and other matters of national importance.
πΊπ¬ UPDF to discipline errant officers in Karamoja
πThe Uganda Peoples Defence Force (UPDF) has vowed to take tough measures against errant officers who are sleeping on the job in the ongoing operation against cattle rustling in the Karamoja sub region.
Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye, the UPDF Spokesperson, said it is alleged that some officers do not pursue the cattle raiders at night when alerted by the locals.
βI am surprised why some security officers on duty have become reluctant during the night and then become very active during the day, yet security is paramount and should be provided all the time,β Kulayigye said.
He noted that pursuing thieves is the Armyβs responsibility because keeping peopleβs lives and property safe is one of the UPDFβs core roles.
βAs an institution (UPDF), we are on the ground in Lango, Acholi, and Karamoja. The commander in chief also pointed out that there are weaknesses on grounds that are being rectified,β he said.

πNyakaziba Town Council in Buhweju district has donated 14 desks to Busheregye primary school. While receiving the desks, the school head teacher appreciated the town council district education departmentΒ for their efforts to support education.

πTwo people were Monday killed instantly and several others injured at Nyamwegabira in ahead on collision with motor vehicle UBF 137P and a motorcycle T737DZX. Kigezi Police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the victims as Ssenyonga Simon, 40, a resident of Kirima Trading Center, Kirima Subcounty and Magezi Ali, a resident of Kihihi Town.

πResidents of Lugoba Village in Kawempe Division have asked the Government to support and empower local leaders to combat crime in the area. The appeal comes after police detained six individuals at the Lugoba Urban Council for allegedly stealing motorcycles from various locations across the nation and dismantling them for sale. The suspects were discovered to be in possession of the motorcycles UEZ616M and UEV832P as well as additional motorcycle spare parts.
πΊπ¬ MALABA: URA opens two border gates closed during COVID19 pandemic
πThe Uganda Revenue Authority Customs officials have opened the two gates at the Malaba-Busia border that were closed about three years ago when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Arinaitwe Prosper, the officer in charge of immigration said that the gates were opened for the local community and to seek ease of cross-border trade between Uganda and Kenya traders and to enhance the movement of goods and services as enshrined in the EAC Trade Partnership Agreement.

πΊπ¬ US hails Ethiopia for opening its borders to evacuation mission as Sudan war continues
π The US Government has hailed Ethiopia for its assistance in evacuation efforts as Governments scramble to evacuate their embassy personnel and people trapped in the Sudan war. Several nations that were unable to airlift their citizens have resorted to other means, including passage by car through the borders of Ethiopia and Djibouti. The US and the United Kingdom already evacuated their diplomats from Khartoum.
πΒ KENYA: 47 bodies of cult followersΒ recovered in pastor’s farm
πKenyan Police have dug up 47 bodies from shallow graves in the country’s east as part of an inquiry into Kenyan Pastor Paul Makenzi’s advice to his followers to fast until they die in order to meet their creator. According to Malindi sub-county police commander John Kemboi, shallow graves were discovered on the pastor’s farm. Police asked the Court to grant them more time to keep Makenzi as they investigate the killings of his followers.

πAt least 60 civilians were murdered in a town in northern Burkina Faso by persons wearing military uniforms. According to non-governmental humanitarian organisations, violence by militias in Burkina Faso has resulted into more than 10,000 deaths and the displacement of two million people fromΒ theirΒ homes.
