🇺🇬 President Museveni challenges KCCA Director on accountability
📌President Museveni has tasked the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director, Dr Dorothy Kisaka  to adopt the culture of giving monthly accountability on the status and progress of all City roads.
“I task the KCCA Executive Director and team to give the country an account of progress on this matter. KCCA should give monthly updates to the clean-up and road repairs in the City. I direct them to follow the PDM approach and also have at least one garbage truck in the 99 parishes,” he said.
This comes at the backdrop of a presidential directive to the Ministry of Finance to release Shs 6 Billion for the repair and maintenance of all city roads whose dilapidated state has  caused public uproar.

🇺🇬 Tomorrow Friday April 21, is Eid el Fitr Day 
📌The Ministry of Public Service has declared tomorrow Friday April 21, the day on which Eid el Fitr falls, a public holiday. In a letter dated April 20, Public Service Permanent Secretary (PS) Catherine Bitarakwate, said that Friday will be a public holiday in the country to allow Muslims celebrate the day. Eid el-Fitr is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of the fasting period of Ramadan.

🇺🇬 President Museveni challenges Muslim leaders to ensure peace and stability
📌President Museveni has challenged Muslim leaders from Karamoja and Teso to take on the mantle of ensuring a peaceful and stable Uganda.  The remarks were made by President Museveni, in a speech read for him by Vice President Jessica Alupo, at the 2nd Annual Ateker Muslim foundation (AMDEF) which brought together over 200 Muslim leaders from Karamoja and Teso.
“I am happy to note the enthusiasm of the Muslim leaders in championing the fight against poverty and backwardness in their respective communities,” said President Museveni.
He urged the leaders to rally people in the region to embrace Government programs.

🇺🇬 Minister Oboth Oboth summoned at CID over diversion of Karamoja iron sheets
📌The Minister of State for Defense and Veterans Affairs, Jacob Oboth Oboth has reported to Criminal Investigations Directorate at Kibuli to record a statement in regard to the diversion of iron sheets meant for Karamoja sub region. Oboth Oboth Friday appeared before the Deputy CID director, Beata Chelimo. He is among the government officials that allegedly benefited from the iron sheets that were meant for underprivileged communities in Karamoja. He had previously returned the iron sheets to the Office of Prime Minister.

🇺🇬 MUST scientist develops Cervical Cancer detection machine
📌Dr William Wasswa, a scientist at Mbarara University of Science and Technology has designed an automated digital microscope for the detection of Cervical Cancer. The machine has an accuracy of around 97 percent in detecting the Cancer from body samples. Dr Wasswa said Cancer samples in the country are currently analysed manually, and this, he said, is time-consuming, error-prone and has to be done by a trained cytopathologist (an expert in analysing body cells to diagnose disease).

🇺🇬 KYENJOJO: Elderly receive monthly SAGE allowances
📌The elderly persons in Kisojo sub county in Kyenjojo Thursday received their monthly allowances from Government under the Social Assistance Grant for Empowerment (SAGE) Program at the county headquarters. Upon the arrival of the Post Bank bullion van, many could be seen running towards it as they heaped praise on the Government for the SAGE program. Every beneficiary was given Ugx75000 for the three months of October, November and December.

📌Police in Bukomansimbi District has rescued a man from a mob who were lynchimg him on accusations of breaking into a house. Kaweesi Gaddafi first strangled the wife of Councillor John Baptist, the owner of the home he had broken into.

🇺🇬 BULIISA: NMS delivers essential drugs to Buliisa Hospital
📌The Buliisa District Health Officer, Dr. Nelson Naisye, has confirmed that National Medical Stores Thursday delivered drugs and medical supplies at Buliisa General Hospital. Dr. Naisye applauded the Government for the improved health services in Buliisa District. He also warned medical officers against mishandling public properties.

🇺🇬 KWANIA: Traditional healer’s charms make six men run mad
📌A traditional healer, one Butaleja has been allegedly accused for bewitching six young men  who  ran mad in Adograo village, Adograo parish, Chawente sub county in Kwania District after they were suspected of breaking into a shop. Upon community intervention, the men were fined UgShs. 3,700,000/ to be healed.

🌍 KENYA: Azimio, Kenya Kwanza teams hold first meeting ahead of talks
📌The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition and the Kenya Kwanza teams held their first meeting Thursday, April 20 at Villa Rosa Kempinski in Nairobi. The meeting was meant to agree and lay down the rules of engagement that will dictate the bipartisan talks. In a joint communique, the team thanked the principals of the two political factions and Kenyans for entrusting them with the task of resolving pertinent issues of national concern.

🌍 WHO urges Sudan warring parties to cease fire for humanitarian services
📌The World Health Organization has urged warring factions in the Sudan to halt fighting so as to have a humanitarian passage for health workers, patients and ambulances for those injured to get medical attention and to provide civilians with food and water.
“We call on all parties to implement a sustained humanitarian pause as soon as possible so that those trapped by the fighting can seek refuge,” said Ahmed Al-Mandhari, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean.

🌍 Egypt rescues its soldiers held in Sudan war
📌The Egyptian army has confirmed the rescue of most of its soldiers held by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as the paramilitary group battles the Sudanese army for the sixth day. In a statement, Egypt’s military spokesman said three Egyptian military transport aircraft landed at an air base in Sudan on Wednesday to evacuate the troops and they were safe and in good health. The evacuation had taken place under comprehensive security and the three flights had landed at an Egyptian military base in Cairo.
