πBank of Uganda has warned the public against entrusting their hard-earned savings with unregulated financial institutions or players in the financial sector.
βSavers entrust your savings with regulated financial institutions to avoid risks but rather take advantage of the available innovations and instruments that are being run by the financial sector players like banks and insurance playersβ, said Charity Mugumya, BOU Spokesperson.

πThe Minister of Education and Sports, Hon Janet Kataha Museveni has challenged parents to involve their girl children into technical and Vocational training Schools (TVET), as this will cover the skills gaps in the country. π The Bishop Emeritus of Hoima Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Albert Edward Baharagate Akiiki has passed away at Nsambya Hospital. The Hoima Diocese Bishop, Rt Rev Vincent Kirabo says burial arrangements will be communicated. Bishop Baharagate is one of the twelve bishops that were consecrated on August 1, 1969 by Pope Paul VI during his visit to Uganda.

πThe Police in Luweero has arrested two people in connection of murdering Nathan Ssebugulu, a Mathematics teacher at Mulusa Academy in Wobulenzi Town Council. According to preliminary investigations, the suspects have been identified as Ibra Ssendegeya a businessman and a resident of Kasenene in Katikamu sub county and Javira Nuwahereza, a Court bailiff and a resident of Ganda zone, Wakiso district.

πPolice in Bombo has arrested three men for allegedly using military uniforms to rob people. The accused include Ronald Nsamba 20, Hassan Musa Marijani 21, and Bashir Mutabaazi 20. The trio have been renting different rooms at Kitooro-Maliga village in Bombo Town Council in Luweero District. They were found in possession of 3000 counterfeit US dollars, marijuana, and UPDF and Prison uniforms.
πΊπ¬ WAKISO: Two buried alive in Kyengera stone quarry
π Two people were on Wednesday morning buried by soil at Bison stone quarry in Magwa cell, Buddo parish Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District. The deceased have been identified as Dora Atwine aged 28 and 27 year old Francis Ariangatum both residents of Kasenge cell in Kasenge ward, Kyengera town council. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said police responded to the scene with a team of detectives and officers from Fire and Rescue Services who then retrieved the bodies to Mulago Hospital for postmortem.

π Over 100 people in Nyabaremura cell, Rubuguri Town Council in Kisoro District have lost homes and other belongings following Tuesday heavy rainfall. The Nyabaremura cell village Chairperson, Ananias Mujunyi, says the landslides triggered by heavy rains destroyed 16 houses leaving over 100 people homeless. Other property destroyed include crops, household items, latrines as well as 12 sheep and goats.

π KENYA: Embassies won’t officiate same sex marriages in diaspora – President Ruto
π President Ruto said on Wednesday in Kigali, Rwanda during a meeting with Kenyans living in the country that Kenyan nationals in the diaspora will soon be able to marry at Kenyan embassies in their respective countries of residence but this will be within the confines of the Kenyan law, meaning same-sex marriages will not be officiated regardless of whether the country of residence legally recognises gay marriages. Ruto said Attorney General Justin Muturi is working on the gazettement of Kenyan embassies worldwide as legally-recognised places of marriage.

π The Death of more than 31 civilians in the Democratic Republic of Congoβs Eastern Ituri province has been attributed to Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels, a rights group said on Wednesday. According to Christophe Munyanderu, the coordinator of the local group Convention for the Respect of Human Rights in Ituri, the victims, all civilians, were killed at the boundary between Mambasa and Irumu territories on Monday and Tuesday.
