“Despite this, the accused continued to illegally take possession of the land, to the detriment of the rightful owner,” the statement read in part.

The statement further revealed that the accused was remanded to Luzira until November 7, 2024.

On the same development, on October 28, 2024, SHACU arraigned Elias Kasirye, a businessman, land dealer, and money lender based in Lukaya, before the Masaka Chief Magistrates Court on charges of malicious damage, forced entry, unlawful eviction, and theft. He was remanded to Luzira until November 5, 2024.

Referring to the law, if convicted under Section 11(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, the accused individuals could face a prison sentence of up to seven years and a fine not exceeding UGX 5.3 million.
