The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) is set to train senior State Attorneys on how to handle cases related to human trafficking.

The training follows various complaints raised to the office of the DPP where the suspects of human trafficking have been arrested and victims feared to bear witness in the courts of law for lack of protection.

“The training is meant to take place in Kampala for one week.  It will help to curb the vice that had escalated in the country’’, says DPP Jane Frances Abodo.

Abodo says senior level Attorneys and other trainers will attain specialised and advanced training curriculum.

Government has been battling with human trafficking where many girls have fallen victims as migrant workers. The rate of human trafficking both internally and externally had escalated from 100 cases to 400 cases.

Statistics from Entebbe International Airport indicate that over 30 people are deported on a daily basis by United Arab Emirates (UAE) over illegal stay in the country.

On Monday November 7th, over 22 suspects working for Super-Life Company were arrested by Police in Masaka City on grounds of human trafficking.
