The Uganda Police Force (UPF) is investigating the circumstances under which a 24-year-old barber and a 21-year-old student died.

According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer, Kampala Metropolitan Police, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident happened at Mosque Zone, Kibuli Parish, Makindye Division, and Kampala District on December 27, 2023.

The deceased have been identified as Senkungu Arnold and Atwine Shina and were discovered at Senkungu’s residence.

Owoyesigire said that the couple was found by Sserunjoji Frank, who was the couple’s neighbour.

“After seeing blood at the deceased’s door, the neighbours forced their way through the locked doors, where they found Atwine’s body lifeless with a deep neck wound. Senkungu was still alive but later succumbed to injuries at Kibuli Hospital,” Owoyesigire said.

According to Owoyesigire, the police and homicide unit responded and discovered a new knife with fresh blood at the scene, adding that it was alleged that the couple had misunderstandings in their marriage.

“Atwine had confided in a friend about mistreatment. She had earlier purchased a new knife, which indicated that she had the intention to kill,” Owoyesigire said.

He added that the motive of the murder is still under investigation, and more details will be availed as more information comes to light.

The two bodies have been taken to City Mortuary pending a post-mortem.

The police urge anyone with information about the incident to report it, for this will aid in the investigation.
