Coach Micho Summons 33 players for AFCON Qualifier

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic ( Micho) has summoned 33 players in preparation for the final game of the Total Energies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers.

The squad summoned by the coach will enter residential camp at the Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisasi, starting Monday, August 28, 2023.

Uganda will play Niger on September 7 at the Grand Stade Marrakech in Morocco.

Uganda Cranes is third in Group F with 4 points, and a victory against Niger coupled with a defeat for Tanzania against Algeria will enable Uganda to qualify.

Milutin said that out of the 33 players summoned, only 23 who are in the best competitive shape for the match will be selected.

“From the 33 players summoned for that AFCON qualifier against Niger, we shall select 23 players who are in the best competitive shape for the match on September 7, 2023, in Morocco,” Milutin Said.

Uganda played on the same venue against Senegal in the World Cup Qualifier 10 years ago, but this time the squad wants to compete in the AFCON.

The players summoned include the following:

Watenga Isima, Salim Omar Magoola, Charles Lukwago, Alionzi Nafian, Joel Mutakubwa, Kenneth Semakula, James Begisa, Isaac Muleme, Timothy Awany, Halidi Lwaliwa, Gift Fred, Bevis Mugabi, Musa Ramathan, Geofrey Wasswa, Elivs Bwomono, Abdu Kayondo Aziizi, Aucho Khalid, Byaruhanga Bobosi, Sentamu Siraje, Taddeo Lwanga, Moses Ndhondhi Waiswa, Milton Karisa, Travis Mutyaba, Isma Mugulusi, Rogers Mato, Joseph Ochaya, Faruku Miya, Tibita Laban, Ibrahim, Kasule, Emmanuel Okwi, Fahad Bayo, Richard Basangwa, and Ssebufu Frank.
