The Archbishop of the Metropolis of Kampala, Jeronymos Muzeeyi has urged Ugandans and Africans at large to stand up and defend their values, and traditions.

He made the call while addressing the media on May 7, 2024, on matters concerning the Inter-Religious Family Festival.

“The best and right path for us all is to stand up and defend our values, and traditions, in accordance with our beliefs and our conscience so that our freedoms are not trampled. Under the weight of silence,” Muzeeyi said.

“Under the influence of globalization, the traditional African family system is increasingly getting challenged and weakened as the new family patterns emerge and get diffused over the continent,” Muzeeyi added.

According to Muzeeyi, the inter-religious family festival 2024 will highlight the importance of family values and interfaith cooperation in advancing freedom and the vision of a 21st-century African Renaissance.

The Inter-Religious Family Festival, organized by the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda, in participation with the Global Peace Foundation, and the Government of Uganda which is the first edition in Uganda will take place on June 29, 2024, at Kololo Independence Grounds under the theme “Celebrating Family, Faith, Freedom: One Family Under God for African Nations.”
