ADF Terrorist Put out of Action, more Weapons Recovered in Joint Operation

In a joint operation last night, July 24, 2023, the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Congolese Army (FARDC) recovered more weapons against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).

According to Maj Bilal Katamba, the Public Information Officer UPDF Mountain Division/ Operation Shujaa, the operation took place at 3:00 a.m. in the area of Ndalia, North East of Erengeti Town, East of Erengeti-Komando Road, Ituri Province, DRC.

“The fight took place at 3:00 am in the general areas of Ndalia, north-east of Erengeti Town, East of Erengeti-Komando Road, Ituri Province, DRC,” said Maj. Katamba.

He further said that they recovered one submachine gun (SMG), one mortar (60mm), 44 rounds of ammunition, and four military radios.

However, according to Maj. Katamba, one terrorist was put out of action (POA).

He said that the joint forces are still pursuing the enemy.

In the last month, 12 weapons have so far been recovered by the joint forces.

On Sunday, July 9, 2023, the joint forces of the UPDF and FARDA killed Lubangakane, the commander of ADF with three of his fighters and two guns, including a PMK machine gun and one submachine gun.

The joint UPDF-FARAD operation codenamed Operation Shujaa started in November 2021 with the aim of creating peace and stability in Eastern DRC for trade and prosperity between the two countries.
