The governments of Uganda and Kenya have resolved enhance promotion of fish trade within the region.
In their latest agreement, the two governments have agreed to allow free transportation of fish into the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
This was announced on Saturday following the signing of agreement between Uganda and Kenya.
In the agreement, the two governments agreed to facilitate transportation of fish from Lake Turkana, through Uganda to Congo without interference.
“In a joint statement signed by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Animal industry and fisheries, and his counterpart, Dr. Francis Owino, the two governments agreed to facilitate transportation of  fish from Lake Turkana, through Uganda to Congo without interference,” the statement reads.
On Saturday, the officials from the two governments led by their Permanent Secretaries of Kenya and officials from the Ugandan side led by their Permanent secretaries converged at the Busia Border Custom Centre to sign a frame work that provides for free transit of fish from Kenya to Congo.
