Legislators from the National Unity Platform are in a fierce raw with their electorates for failure to deliver anything within the first year of leadership.

The Electorates blame the NUP Mps for not doing anything about their grievances as voters and blame them for spending much of their time in fights that do not bring services to them.

This follows a series of reports about the in fights and money scams within the top most leadership of NUP which the Leader of opposition has denied.

However reliable sources indicate that there is a deep raw between NUP legislators who are loyalists to Kyagulanyi and those that have different thinking and ideas from them.

A number of Members of Parliament and leaders within the NUP had said that there is a rift over the approach that the biggest opposition political party should take in confronting the ruling National Resistance Movement.

The Leader of Opposition has however denied the divisions with sugarcoating statements that indicate that all will be fine.  “That is called fundamental disagreements which are actually normal differences in opinion that define every society,” he said.

While speaking in a press conference in Kamwokya today,  he utilized the podium to claim that NUP is not in a leadership crisis.

However, members who are very close to Robert Kyagulanyi, the President of NUP said Mpuuga’s diplomatic kind of leadership runs counter to the aspirations of majority of the party supporters who prefer confrontational politics.

NUP leaders who asked not be named told the Explorer that the plan by NUP top most leadership was to turn tables in Parliament by creating an environment of no diplomacy but confrontational politics a thing they said will not help their electorates and the country at large.

This led to a split between the leadership over which approach to use and this has led to an emergency of two factions in the leadership. The Pro Mathias Mpuga faction and the Pro Bobi Wine faction.

Recently, while attending a memorial service of Frank Ssenteza, a former Kyagulanyi bodyguard in December last year, Alex Mufumbiro, the party deputy spokesperson who is very close to Kyagulanyi received a standing ovation after accusing the MPs led by Mpuuga of just looking on as injustices continue to be meted out on NUP supporters including MPs Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana who have spent four months on remand without being given bail of their alleged involvement in the Masaka murders.

In response, Mpuuga said although Mufumbiro’s outburst seemed to have been applauded by some people, there is no evidence to show that it’s the popular view in the party.

In the near Past report from the corridors of NUP power structures, had indicated that Mathias Mpuga is positioning himself to take on Kyagulanyi come 2026. This was refuted by Mpuga, however with the new developments and factions in NUP, it is clear that there is a hidden agenda.
