How Gas Cylinder-Like Object Exploded Killing 2 People In Mbarara

Security in Mbarara city have revealed the circumstances under which a gas cylinder like object exploded and killed two people leaving one severely wounded.

Yesterday 30 /11/ 2021at roughly 11:45am, a suspected bomb in a cylinder shell exploded and killed one Bumbakar kasinde alias Baker and another one only identified as Husein who were trying to cut it for scrap.

It also seriously injured John Tumwebaze the owner of that scrap collecting place in Agip cell (China Town), Nyamityobora ward, Kakoba mbarara South Division.

Preliminary information indicates that one mutebi Hamis telephone no 0700718072 brought the item to John Tumwebaze with intention of selling it as a scrap.

Mutebi was advised to first cut it into pieces and Tumwebaze provided him with power outside his place to cut it.

Mutebi also hired Baker and Hussein to do the work hence exploding and killing the two instantly.

The two bodies were taken to Mbarara Regional Referral hospital mortuary by police for post-mortem.

Police bomb experts picked the fragments as exhibits for expert investigations to identify the type of bomb.

Joint security has launched a hunt for the Mutebi on run.
