Government has called for critical security vigilance in all public places amidst heightened operation against terrorists in the country.

Uganda has recorded repeated terrorism attacks in the recent months leading to the death of about nine innocent civilians.

The recent one was two weeks ago when suspected suicide bombers blew themselves during the twin bomb blasts in Kampala.

Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi, the minister of security said on Monday that whereas the war against terrorism has continued to record successes, there is need for security vigilance by the public.

“I continue to call upon all Ugandans to remain vigilant in their respective places. Supervisors of religious gatherings, markets, recreational centers, shopping malls and apartments should continue enforcing thorough and regular security checks at entrances,” Minister said.

Now, Gen Muhwezi warned against laxity by all those tasked to man security checks points to ensure that everyone is consciously checked.

Uganda is in the final preparation to enter Eastern DRC to hunt down the Allied Democratic Forces from their hideouts.

This follows after Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi gave UPDF green light for combat action against the elusive ADF terrorists operating in Beni and around Semuliki valley in th DRC jungles.
