Security Spokespersons have expressed displeasure this morning at violations of anti COVID19 measures by some of our people. This poses great danger to the lives of Ugandans.

A number of Boda Boda riders have been seen carrying passengers while Taxi drivers have been carrying more than the recommended half capacity. Other people have disregarded curfew restrictions completely and have been arrested on occasions.

The number of COVID 19 cases has been steadily going up in recent weeks and we have had calls for people not to get complacent at this critical juncture in the fight against the pandemic.

Even the easing of lock down should not be taken lightly and measures such as SOPs should not be forgotten. Masks are mandatory in public as they help curtail the spread of the virus.

Registration of commuter taxis is still ongoing at various centers around Kampala to help regulate their activities and discussions with city landlords are expected to enable arcades to reopen soon.

There however remains concern over the high fares being charged by operators along the main routes amidst complaints from travellers.

They appeal to everyone to adhere to safety measures for everyone’s sake.
