The Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, has urged young people to embrace Pan-Africanism, discipline, and different government programs.

Balaam made the appeal on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, while presiding over the launch of the Pan African Women organization Makerere chapter.

“I encourage young people to embrace Pan Africanism, discipline, and government programs like PDM, the Youth Livelihood Program, and Grow Loan Funds,” Barugahara said.

He said the government has established 18 skilling centers to skill youth not above the age of 35 across the country.

Barugahara commended President Museveni for promoting democracy and inclusiveness through affirmative action.

Balaam emphasized the role Pan-African groups play in nurturing leaders.

The Makerere University dean of students, Winfred Kabumbuli, who represented the university vice-chancellor, said that the administration understands the role played by such think tanks in grooming leaders.

The Pan African Women Organization started in 1948 and backed up the struggle for African independence and was later recognized in 1962 when it was launched by the then-Tanzanian president Julius Kambarage Nyerere in Tanzania.
