The Member of Parliament for Busiro East in Wakiso district, Medard Lubega Sseggona, has urged the Ministry of Internal Affairs to reinstate village police posts in the area to reduce the increasing criminal activities.

MP Sseggona said the disbanded police posts that had been established in the community were instrumental in maintaining safety, deterring criminal activity, and effectively protecting residents and their property.

However, since their removal, criminal activities have increased in Busiro East County.

He made this remark during the funeral of one Lasto Kigozi, a boda rider, held at Mawuguli village in Nsangi Sub County, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso district on August 5, 2024.

The deceased was brutally attacked by machete-wielding assailants on the night of August 3, 2024. His passenger also sustained severe injuries during the attack.

Sseggona noted that the thugs are taking advantage of the large areas of Kyengera Town Council with limited police presence.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs must take the current surge in insecurity seriously. The situation has escalated to the point where these criminals are attacking people even in broad daylight, instilling fear and anxiety in the community,” Sseggona stated.
