The opposition National Economic Empowerment Dialogue Party (NEED) has warned political leaders from the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP), headed by Robert Kyagulanyi, against disrespecting the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

In his weekly media address on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the Party Headquarters in Rubaga, Moses Matovu, the spokesperson for the NEED party, said those undermining the Kingdom and its leadership risk being attacked by the angry subjects.

“We have realized that the Kingdom has been attacked by these same individuals, and we warn them that this may end up in protests. We warn people like Nambooze to stop disrespecting the Kabaka because she will have nowhere to hide when Baganda gets angry,” Matovu revealed.

Matovu also added that the work of leaders should be to advise youths to respect the Kingdom’s cultural norms.

“Those youths busy abusing the kingdom and the Kabaka should be advised by their leaders to stop disrespecting the kingdom leadership,” he added.

This stemmed from a video clip released by MP Betty Nambooze in which she accused Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi II of not talking about what was happening in the country during his 31st coronation anniversary speech.
