The former leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Mathias Mpuuga, has revealed shocking secrets as to why Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, the leader of the National Unity Platform Party, should never be taken seriously and entrusted with the country’s top position of the President.

Mpuuga, who is also the leader of the recently formed Democratic Alliance (DA), said that whereas he was aware of Bobi Wine’s flaws, including drug abuse, dishonesty, and engaging in various subversive deals against Uganda, he accepted to serve under him in NUP with the view to change him.

On December 25, 2024, during the Christmas prayer mass at Our Lady of Sorrow Cathedral in Kitovu, Masaka, Mpuuga accused Bobi Wine of prioritizing his own wealth, family, and close relatives instead of tackling the country’s pressing issues.

According to Mpuuga, he fell out with Bobi after it had become clear that the musician-turned-politician was repeatedly adamant about adhering to advice that could shape his leadership skills.

“I counseled Kyagulanyi against engaging with promoters of homosexuality from western countries but he never listened. I advised him to avoid prioritizing his family wealth and focus on developing party structures in the country side but he did not accept,” Mpuuga said.

Describing Kyagulanyi’s leadership style as selfishness, Mpuuga said that the majority opposition MPs in Parliament are no longer paying allegiance to Kyagulanyi.

Mpuuga and some opposition leaders recently formed a pressure group, dubbed the Democratic Alliance (DA), to conduct a separate political mobilization in Buganda and around the country.

He says the Alliance targets to cause immediate unity among different opposition groups under one platform.

The new coalition aims to bring together members from parties like the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), the Democratic Party (DP), the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), and the Justice Forum (JEEMA), among others.
