The police in Kampala have arrested a total of eight suspected notorious criminals in Kisangani, Masaja-Makindye Division.

ACP Rusoke Kituuma, the police spokesperson, said on Monday, August 5, 2024, that the group was arrested during an intelligence-led operation conducted on August 2, 2024.

During the operation, Isaac Kizito, also known as Kamese, a notorious robber and resident of Kisangani Zone, Masaja-Makindye Division, Kampala City, was also arrested.

Kituuma said Kamese had allegedly broken into Ssendija Mike’s house and stolen a mattress, DVD player, phone, and cash worth 400,000 Ugandan shillings.

“Police recovered exhibits, including TVs, a fridge, hoofers, mattresses, and flat irons. Four out of the eight suspects arrested were already on the police intelligence watchlist,” said Kituuma.

The suspects have been identified as Ronald Ssegawa, a resident of Kikajjo Masaja ward; Hamza Jjuko Kasobiti; Abel Turyasingura, a resident of Kibutika Ndejje; Tonny Kitoogo; Emmanuel Kamanzi; Isaac Kanyango; Kizito Isaac; and Wusama Kiyingo Wusama.

According to the police, the suspects had a store where they kept stolen property while looking for a market, while some of the thugs pretended to be scrap collectors as they moved around, identifying potential targets for their criminal activities.
