Dr. Lina Zedriga Waru Abuka the National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy President has questioned Bobi Wine’s frequent travels abroad and his association with the LGBTQ community.

During a meeting held on April 1, 2024, at NUP headquarters Makerere Kavule, according to sources Zedriga questioned Bobi Wine’s frequent trips abroad and his association with LGBTQI communities, despite knowing the public’s stand on the matter.

“Mr. President, I would like to be enlightened on your frequent trips abroad and your association with the LGBTQ communities while on those trips. Secondly, how will all this help us push our political agenda? We are losing face with the population regarding these issues, given the fact that a law was passed and culturally we all know our country’s stand on the matter,” Zedriga questioned.

She went ahead to remind the members present at the meeting that, Abed Bwanika and Matthias Mpuuga’s previous revelations concerning the matter of homosexuality has not gone down well with most Ugandans, including a video on tik tok that shows Justice Hunter a member of LGBTQI attacking Mpuuga during his last trip to the United States.

“We can no longer remain tight-lipped on these matters, we need to give a statement, otherwise we are losing out as a party and politically, Uganda is a traditional country, that values its culture, and society is going to fight us on these, with everything they have got, and our colleagues especially those that align with Mpuuga will destroy us with the matter. I beg you to take a stand and soon,” Zedriga said.

However, Bobi Wine according to the source, did not give much importance to Zedriga’s submissions. He is said to have deflected and changed the topic easily by reminding the group of why he had called the meeting before his trip to Brussels that Monday evening of April 1, 2024.

“My most royal members I am here to inform you that, I have made changes in the positions in the party, I will be taking the names to our funders for approval, since there are some serious changes which require an increase in the salaries, so I will seek their approval on that matter as I will be traveling to Brussels this evening,” Bobi Wine said.

The sources added that Zedriga was heard complaining on the phone after the meeting as she said that, indeed, Mpuuga and Bwanika could be right about NUP’s support for LGBTQI.

Social media was awash with tweets from David Vidal Sans a member of the European Union, praising and appreciating Bobi Wine for his support for LGBTQ, with Bobi Wine liking the tweet. After numerous complaints from Ugandans calling out Bobi Wine to state his side, with some claiming Vidal is Bobi Wine’s husband, the tweet was brought down by Vidal.

One is left to wonder, where does this leave Bobi Wine , NUP, his family and the country, which has passed a law prohibiting the practice of homosexuality, yet the man interested in leading this country is supporting it?
