President Yoweri K Museveni has urged leaders from Amuru district council to emphasise building homestead income for the populace.

He made these remarks while interacting with the Amuru district members at State House, Entebbe, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

“I held a good interactive discussion with the Amuru district council members at State House, Entebbe, yesterday, where they briefed me on their progress and challenges,” the president said.

He advised them to sort out the bad politics and then fight poverty by building homestead incomes for the people.

The President emphasises that home income-generating endeavours do not require a delay, but other issues raised, like roads and health centres, among others, will be addressed eventually.

“The other issues raised, like the roads, health centres, schools, irrigation projects, and other social infrastructure, shall come, but household income-generating efforts need not wait,” he added.

In May 2022, the President called upon leaders at all levels to dedicate their energies to nothing else but focus on income-generating activities that improve the livelihoods and families of the people they lead.

In December 2022, the President re-echoed the same message to the people of Kiruhura and Kazo: stop lamenting about bad roads in the districts as the cause of their poverty and instead focus on doing things that will improve their household incomes.
