Lady Cranes Rugby Clinch Third Place at Rugby Women’s Africa Cup 7’s, Earn Spot in Olympic Repechage

The Uganda Women National Rugby team, Lady Cranes Rugby, secured third place on the final day of the Rugby Women’s Africa Cup 7’s in Monastir, Tunisia.

Uganda beat Zambia 29-10 in the third-place play-off after losing out to Kenya 27-00 in the semi-final on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

This third-place triumph puts the Lady Cranes a step closer to realizing their 2024 Paris Olympic dream as they earn the opportunity to participate in next year’s Rechange tournament in Monaco.

The tournament finishes with South Africa as the champions and Kenya as the silver medalists.

Uganda will now join African champions South Africa in the 2024 World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series.
