The territorial police in Kampala metropolitan area are looking for the owner of PURE-Love Uganda on suspicion of child trafficking and sexual exploitation.

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, stated on October 2, 2023, that the NGO was registered in 2015, but in October 2022, the proprietor of PURE-LOVE UGANDA, which is located in Kitaka Zone, Busega, was found to be physically and sexually harassing girl victims who were being sponsored by the NGO.

“The NGO registers vulnerable children from all parts of the country, sponsors their education, and provides care and welfare through friends from America,” Enanga explained.

He stated that one of the girl victims was brave enough to report the incident to a concerned citizen, who contacted authorities. And a total of nine minors were rescued, with six boys aged 14 to 20 and three females aged 15 to 18.

Enanga also appealed to any other victims still out in the public to come forward and share any information they have with the police.

Police continue to combat and fight all forms of human trafficking because of their negative impact on society. We want to assure the public that all perpetrators of child and human trafficking will be aggressively pursued and charged to court.
