Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), has urged the newly passed-out officers to desist from tendencies that will damage the reputation of the institution.

Gen. Mbadi made this call while presiding over the pass-out ceremony of 52 M124 attack helicopter engineers and 28 basic induction officers at the Uganda Air Force College in Nakasongola district on September 27, 2023.

The 52 MI-24 attack helicopter engineers went through 36 months of training in various disciplines of electrical and aircraft/airframe maintenance, and 28 officers went through a six-month basic induction course.

Gen. Mbadi emphasised that the air force commanders are using qualified internal instructors to conduct training and have carried out their duties in a professional and effective manner.

“For the engineers, the training will make aircraft maintenance easier to a great extent as long as the graduates are willing to exercise the technical skills and knowledge acquired, “said Mbadi.

He advised officers to desist from tendencies like fraud, corruption, and cheap popularity, among others, and to protect their health and physical fitness for their own benefit.

Mbadi also commended the Commandant of the College, Chief Instructor Col. Seguya, and the entire college leadership for designing and carrying out the two courses to completion, as well as for recognising the importance of the courses in relation to the perceived quality of training packages.

Brig. Gen. Stephen Kiggundu, the Deputy Commander Air Force, who represented Lt. Gen. Charles Okidi, the UPDF Air Force Chief of Staff, revealed that the Air Force leadership has begun incorporating Uganda Air Force College modules with Junior Staff modules into the Squadron Commanders Course syllabus to ensure that students meet the same standards as Junior Command College, Jinja.

Col. James Muhwezi, Commandant of Uganda Air Force College Nakasongola, stated that training troops from Uganda Air Force College has lowered the cost of training Air Force personnel abroad to reasonable levels.
