Rubanda District Woman MP aspirant Jacqueline Katabazi demonstrated her commitment to improving education in the district by donating brand-new computers and essential accessories to St. Mary’s Ndego Secondary School in Ikumba Sub-county.

The generous contribution was made during the school’s thanksgiving service held on Sunday September 24, 2023 at St. Mary’s Ndego Catholic Church.

Recognizing the school’s need for modern technology, Katabazi took action after learning that despite offering computer lessons, St. Mary’s Ndego had no computers of their own. Determined to address this gap, she purchased computers, including keyboards, monitors, mice, and other electronic equipment necessary for an optimal learning environment.

During her speech at St. Mary’s Ndego Catholic Church, Katabazi expressed her concern upon being approached by the school’s Head Teacher, Mr. Santurinas Mucunguzi, who highlighted the lack of study computers at the school yet ICT being an examinable subject in secondary schools.

“I felt so much concerned, so I have been able to mobilize funds and buy two computers with everything they need to operate ” she said while speaking at St. Mary’s Ndego Catholic church.

In addition to the computers, Katabazi also contributed 310,000 shillings to repair the broken water system at the school. Furthermore, as a strong advocate for education, she has been providing school uniforms for Batwa children studying at St. Mary’s Ndego Secondary School.

The donation ceremony was attended by Mr. Wensi Bazirake, the LC.3 Chairperson of Ikumba Subcounty, and Mr. Silver Baguma, the Rubanda District LC.5 Councillor for the elderly. The event marked two decades since the establishment of St. Mary’s Ndego Secondary School in 2003.

The computers and electronic equipment donated by Jacqueline Katabazi will significantly benefit the students and teachers at St. Mary’s Ndego, enabling them to access modern technology for learning and research purposes.

Residents are grateful to see individuals like Katabazi actively contributing to the improvement of education in their communities, emphasizing the importance of equipping students with the necessary tools for success in today’s digital world.
