The anti-corruption court, in liason with the Uganda Police, has arraigned Denis Lukanga before the Masaka Chief Magistrates Court for land grabbing.

According to the Anti-Corruption Unit, Lukanga joins Geoffrey Sekamanya and Vicent Musiige, who were previously charged in May 2023 before the Masaka Chief Magistrate Court for attempting to grab the late Kateregga Yafesi’s land.

The accused were arraigned on charges of intermeddling with the property of the deceased, forgery, uttering false documents, malicious damage to property, and conspiracy to defraud.

“The accused forged documents from the Administrator General’s office, which were used to grab the kibanja of the late Kateregga Yafesi Nkumbi of Samaliya village,” the Unit said.

Lukanga is also accused of destroying the coffee and banana plantations of the locals. According to authorities, the three are part of a gang of serial land grabbers who have terrorised Masaka residents for years.

Lukanga has been remanded until August 17, 2023.
