Yeko Wins Gold for Uganda at World University Games 2023, China

19-year-old Yeko Dismas won gold yesterday evening in the men’s 10,000m final at Shuangliu Sports Centre Stadium in the on-going World University Games 2023, in Chengdu, China. He crossed the finish line in 28 minutes, 59 seconds.

Yeko attributed his achievement to proper preparation.

“I thank God for this amazing victory. I think I can put it down to proper preparations,” Yeko said.

Yeko is a student from Ndejje University being managed by former Spanish Athlete Monica Point at the Kapchorwa town-based Xurica Sports Management Agency Camp.

He is pursuing a bachelor’s in Forestry Science and Environmental Management (BFEM).

Yeko will be competing in the 5,000-meter race on Friday.

In March 2022, Yeko represented Uganda at Aviero, Portugal, winning gold at the World University Cross Country Championship.

In the same year, he won gold in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the All African University Games in Nairobi, Kenya.
