The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports commended the old boys of Mbarara High School for their tremendous efforts to construct and hand over a modern dormitory building to the school administration.

“Thank you, old boys, of Mbarara High School, for complimenting government efforts in reviving the infrastructure at the school,” Janet Museveni said.

Minister Janet Museveni made remarks while presiding over the ceremony at Mbarara High School, where she was represented by the Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, the Deputy Speaker of the 11th Parliament.

In her speech, read by Speaker Tayebwa, Minister Janet revealed that Mbarara High School is among those to benefit from the special government renovation program aimed at revamping the traditional schools across the country.

“The power and unity and giving back to the community were exhibited yesterday at Mbarara High School, where I represented the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni as old boys handed over a newly constructed Addis Ababa dormitory hall replacing the old one that was burned down years ago,” Thomas Tayebwa said.

The Deputy Speaker also revealed that the government will revamp the roads along Ruharo Hill, justifying that the hill plays host to very critical development infrastructure.

“The road infrastructure along Ruharo Hill will also be improved in the near future, as this hill plays host to very critical development infrastructure,” he said.

He thanked Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa for leading the way in strengthening collaboration between the church and government to provide quality education to our communities.

In 2016, several students of Mbarara High School survived a fire that burned down a dormitory while they were studying in class. The fire that started at about 9 p.m. burned books, mattresses, clothing, and bedding.
