The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has praised the NRM party president, H.E. Yoweri K. Museveni, for taking action against foul play that happened during the Bukedea LCV by elections recently.

The Deputy Spokesperson of FDC, John Kikonyogo, hailed President Museveni during a presser held at their headquarters in Najjanankumbi on Monday, July 10, 2023.

This follows the letter written by the president addressed to Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, the head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, condemning the malpractices witnessed in the Bukedea by-elections. He said that government officials invaded the house of one Omagor, to stop him from being nominated, and that was a treasonous act.

“I have got some disturbing information about the recent by-election in Bukedea LCV chairperson, where our NRM candidate won. However, I am getting information that government officials attacked Mr. Omagor, an aspirant, stole over Shs150 million, and confiscated his academic papers. I am therefore directing you to handle the criminals,” Museveni said.

According to Kikonyogo, the President portrayed a high level of intelligence by condemning the treasonous deeds of these government officials and acting swiftly by ordering action to be taken.

“Now that the president has spoken about this injustice, the whole country will now believe what we have been talking about for the longest time possible. As FDC, we truly appreciate the immediate action by the president to arrest these criminals,” said Kikonyogo.

He added that, as a party, they are happy that the president has put these government officials in their place, especially the policemen, who have been the ringleaders of such activities. Kikonyogo said that the next time such practises happen, they are content that the president will take action.

Kikonyogo concluded by thanking President Museveni for being a good leader, one who recognises the wrong taking place in his party and also acts justly.

This comes after the arrest of the RDC Bukedea, Mr. Wilberforce Tukei, and the DPC, SP Charles Okoto, for failing to act on the rampant acts of intimidation and assault of candidates, together with the arraignment of Malinga Dan, the Bukedea Town Councillor, before the Magistrate Court of Bukedea, for allegedly mobilising goons to assault Omagor.
