Uganda to Host 2nd World Kiswahili Day

Uganda is set to host the 2nd World Kiswahili language Day in Kampala from July 6-7 2023.

This was disclosed by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East Africa Community (EAC) Affairs, Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, while she was addressing Journalists at the EAC Ministry Office, at Kingdom House in Kampala on Friday June 30, 2023.

She explained that medals of recognition will be awarded at the event as determined by EAC partner states.

This day will bring together stakeholders in the use of Kiswahili including researchers, policy makers, media and students among others in the region and elsewhere. The 1st EAC World Kiswahili Day Celebrations were held in Zanzibar from July 6 to 7, 2022, since the EAC Council of Ministers resolved that the event be hosted in rotation among member states.
