President Museveni Receives Credentials from New Envoys to Uganda

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has received credentials from seven envoys to Uganda from the Republic of South Sudan, France, Egypt, Iran, Turkey, Equatorial Guinea and Saharawi Republic.

The envoys were received at separate ceremonies that took place at State House, Entebbe on Wednesday 15th February 2023.

According to sources at State House, Juache Deng of the Republic of South Sudan was the first envoy to present his credentials to President Museveni.

Deng was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. PasquinaAtak Garang.

Museveni welcomed him and discussed matters of mutual interest between the two countries.

He conveyed greetings from President Salva Kiir to Museveni and pledged to further strengthen the existing strong relationship between the people of South Sudan and Uganda.

President Museveni also received Mehmet Faith AK as new envoy of Turkey.

On presenting his credence, he expressed his country’s gratitude for the support extended to the people of Turkey following earthquake that led to the loss of several lives.

President Museveni conveyed his deepest condolences to His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the people of Turkey upon the tragedy caused by the earthquake.

“I am very sorry about the earthquakes. It’s terrible. Convey my sympathy to the president. I wrote to him. I am really very sorry,” Museveni said.

The new ambassador of France to Uganda, Xavier Sticker, also presented his letters of credence to the president, and pledged to strengthen bilateral relationships between the countries during his tour of duty.

President Museveni thanked the French government for adding value and training the Mountain Brigade of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

During their interactions, Museveni expressed interest to have dialogue with member countries of the European Union (EU) to streamline the bilateral relations that should be the basis of partnership and mutual interest, not master puppet relations.

Among other Ambassadors that presented their credentials include Monzer Fathi Abdel Aziz Mohamed Selim of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Majid Saffar the new Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Carmelo-Micha Nguema Misi of Equatorial Guinea.

Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, Ambassador Salek Sghair Radhi also presented his letters of Credence.

Several government officials attended the ceremony at State House including the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hon Okello Henry Oryem, Minister of State for Regional Cooperation, Hon. John Mulimba, Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Charles Ssentongo among others.
