Police in Greater Bushenyi have in custody an 18-year-old male suspect of Buhuma cell, Ishaka division, for aggravated defilement of two 7-year-old twin female juveniles.

SCP Fred Enanga, the spokesperson for police, identified the suspect as Amanya Cryton of Buhuma cell, Ishaka division. According to Enanga, the incident happened on October 4, 2023, at around 6 p.m.

Enanga said that the information acquired shows that one of the twins fled to the Kijumo Trading Centre and informed her mother of the suspect’s plans to defile them both. After rushing home, the mother saw her second twin daughter undressed and defiled.

According to the Enanga, the victims revealed that it was the third time the incident had happened.

“The victim revealed that it was the third occasion that the suspect had defiled her. The complainant alerted the LC 1 chairman, who caused the suspect’s arrest. During the medical examination, it was established that the suspect had repeatedly defiled the female twins,” Enanga said.

According to Enanga, the suspect is related to the mother of the victims and was the one taking care of the victims, as the mother went to work as a shop attendant.

The police strongly condemn such acts of child sexual abuse by teachers and caretakers, who are looked at as protectors and defenders of the rights of children, especially the girl child.

Amanya has been charged to court with two counts of aggravated defilement.
