📌The remains of the 11 girls from Salama School of the Blind that perished in a fire last week were today morning returned to the school so they can be handed over to their parents and relatives. A funeral service for the victims was also held, led by Fr. Paul Ssebitoogo of St Paul Catholic Church, Mukono. Parents, old students and local leaders converged at the school premises for the sombre function where the State Minister for Primary Education, Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, was the chief mourner.

📌President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected in Kasese District on 22nd December 2022 to officiate the commissioning of the One-Stop Border Post in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town council. The development was revealed on Tuesday by Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga, the State Minister for ICT in charge of National Guidance during a stakeholders meeting that was held at Mpondwe One Stop Border Post. Hon. Kabbyanga noted that President Museveni has much interest in coming to Kasese to see how the business activities move at the border.

📌According to Ms Jenifer Bamuturaki, the Chief Executive Officer, Uganda Airlines is set to make maiden flight to Nigeria this December. Ms Bamuturaki disclosed this on Monday during the 18th AKWAABA Africa Travel and Tourism Market held in Lagos. According to her, flights to Lagos will begin before the end of December while flights to Abuja will begin in 2023.

📌Police has revealed how Kampala girls spike men drinks in bars and then later rob them of their possessions. The rampant vice came to notice after a one Nakiyizi Lydia Asiimwe alias Karungi Hope was arrested after allegedly spiking a one Crefin’s drink on 13th October 2022 at Queens Palace in Mpererwe, and later robbed him. According to SCP Fred Enanga, Karungi robbed the victim of two ATM cards for Equity and Centenary Bank and cash totaling to Shs3 million and later made withdraws of up to Shs10m, before blocking his ATM cards.

📌A Senior Mbale Diocese Reverend has left Church of Uganda and has been consecrated as Bishop of Worldwide Anglican Church, Upper Nile Diocese.
Rt. Rev. Abednego Kassawa Watenga who was Chairman House of Clergy Mbale Diocese and Team Leader Anglican Renewal Ministry Mbale Diocese. He was consecrated on Sunday, 30th October 2022 at Busamaga Play Ground in Mbale City.

📌According to the State Minister for Energy, Okasai Opolot, the government is working in tandem with Kenya and Tanzania to ensure that the country does not experience any shortage in the supply of fuel, and also ensure that fuel pump prices remain stable. Okasai said the government is also working with fuel supply companies to make sure there is no hoarding, which normally leads to abnormal increases in pump prices.

📌The Finance Intelligence Authority (FIA) with support from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has launched the online Anti Money Laundering System to allow for e-registration and e-certificate of registration issuance. UNODC assists governments to roll back threats caused by drugs, transnational organized crime and terrorism by helping member states in capacity building.

📌Police in Kanungu is investigating circumstances surrounding the death of 36 year old man who was hacked by assailants to death. The Kigezi Region police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the deceased as Onesmus Akankwasa 36 years and a resident of Omukyibungo cell Karubirizi Nyakyinoni Sub County in Kanungu District. It is alleged that the deceased had dug a trench in which he was staying and that during the night of 31st October 2022, he was attacked by unknown people who cut his neck that led to his death.

📌Scientists from the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) have developed bean varieties, which they say will solve the problem of hunger and malnutrition in Karamoja Sub-region. The beans are rich in iron and zinc and can be processed to make flour for porridge mixed with millet and soya bean. Dr. Stanley Nkalubo, the head of legume research at National Crops Resources Research Institute (NaCRRI), in an interview last week, noted that the 20-25% iron and zinc components in the beans make them suitable for hunger stricken regions such as Karamoja.

📌Parliament’s Committee on Health has been apprised on the rising new HIV/AIDS infections in the island districts of Buvuma and Kalangala, which jeopardizes the dreams to have zero new infections by 2030. Dr. Rogers Besigye, the coordinator of the Rakai Health Service Program told the committee that the rise in new infections is occasioned by the difficulty in transporting antiretroviral drugs, which would suppress patients’ viral loads and therefore, curtail new infections.

📌Kampala Central lawmaker Muhammad Nsereko has proposed that government considers installing Global Positioning System (GPS) chips in all guns to ease the process of tracking all persons who commit crimes with the aid of guns. 📌Members of the Lango Muslim Community -LMC faction who pray from Madina Faizan Mosque have resorted to praying from their homes after security forces took over the Mosque following last week’s clash. Recently, the Muslim faction based at Madina Faizan Mosque located at Lira Primary School defected to the Kibuli-led administration and those from Lira Main Mosque who subscribe to Uganda Muslim Supreme Council -UMSC Old Kampala clashed at Faizan Mosque when the later went to install a new imam. Turyamubona Gideon yesterday donated scholastic materials to P7 candidates of Kitaziguruka and Christian primary school Marumba to assist them in the forthcoming PLE exams. The donated items were mathematical sets, pens and pencils worth Shs. 500,000.While handing over the donated items , Hon. 📌A US judge has sentenced a Kansas woman who led an all-female ISIL (ISIS) battalion in Syria to the maximum sentence of 20 years in jail, after Allison Fluke-Ekren pleaded guilty to “terrorism” charges earlier this year.
During a hearing in federal court in northern Virginia on Tuesday, Fluke-Ekren said in a lengthy speech that she took responsibility for her actions but spent most of the time rationalizing and minimizing her conduct.

📌Prominent jailed Egyptian activist Alaa Abd el-Fattah has begun a full hunger strike ahead of the COP27 climate summit, as supporters say he will be either dead or free when world leaders convene in Sharm el-Sheikh next week.
Abd el-Fattah said in a letter to his family that he would start a zero-calories hunger strike on Tuesday and stop drinking water from 6th November 2022, when global climate talks are set to kick off in the Red Sea town.

📌UN rights experts decried the lack of accountability for the “stark dehumanization of African migrants” after many were killed trying to cross from Morocco to Spain in June.

📌Kenya is deploying the first contingent of a regional peacekeeping force to eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. President William Ruto will preside over a flagging-off ceremony in Nairobi for the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) battalion joining the regional forces. The Kenyan troops, who will be in DR Congo as part of the East African Community (EAC) force, will help the Congolese army’s efforts to quell the violence in the region.
