Why you should attend the Harvest Money Expo 2023

The government of Uganda through State House is exhibiting the Presidential Demonstration Farms, an initiative of H.E the President of Uganda.

The 6th Harvest Money Expo will be held at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds from 10th to 13th February 2023 under the theme: “Farming as a Business- Post-harvest Handling and Value Addition”

The harvest money expo will conduct training on different aspects of farming, Post handling and value addition.

Coffee farming and value addition; poultry; pig farming; beekeeping; rabbit farming; bananas; mushrooms; dairy farming; goat farming; passion fruit farming; vegetable farming; avocado farming; fruit farming; urban farming; greenhouse maintenance; and so on are just some of the topics that will be covered in the trainings.

Participants will be required to pay only 10,000 as entry fee and an extra 10,000 if they want to be trained in a specific field.

Don Wanyama, the Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, said the expo will be offering policy makers the opportunity to engage with other stakeholders involved in the agricultural sector.

There will also be a presentation from the Presidential Demonstration Farms with an aim of demonstrating best farming practices to medium and small-holder farmers to increase their household income.

The purpose of the presentation is to demonstrate best farming practices mainly to medium and smallholder farmers to help increase their household income.

The training also intends to expose farmers to appropriate technologies to reduce the rate of on farm post-harvest losses.

The training is also to further guide farmers on the critical tenet of enterprise selection to address daily, seasonal and perennial household income needs.

Anne Nahura, an exhibitor from the Presidential Demonstration firm says it is a great opportunity for them to attend the Expo and showcase their products.

The Harvest Money expo is sponsored by the Kingdom of Netherlands, Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), National Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS), Pepsi, ENGSOL, RIELA, Agricultural Credit Facility (ACF) and Uganda Warehouse Receipt System Authority (UWRSA).
