Lately, there has been too much talk by the opposition politicians belittling President Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM). These opposition politicians spread malicious, baseless propaganda aimed at tarnishing the image of the president and watering down his achievements towards the development of this country.
The propaganda has, however, not diverted the president from his core mission of transforming Ugandans socio-economically. He has continued to promote and work in line with the NRM core principles of democracy, patriotism, socio-economic transformation, and Pan-Africanism, and his proactive nature has always vindicated him with time.
Additionally, President Museveni has been a role model and benchmark for African and Western countries on the issues pertaining to peace and security. Whereas these opposition politicians are busy promoting violence and mobilizing resources from terrorism promoters as well as promoting sectarian politics and hate speech for their own selfish interests, the president has been a pillar for stability in Uganda and outside, promoting peace in Somalia, the Central African Republic, and many other countries.
President Museveni’s parental, hospitable, and tolerant nature has seen him appoint even opposition politicians like Nobert Mao in his Cabinet.
However, the intolerance exhibited by the current opposition politicians leaves many questions unanswered, with Ugandans wondering how they would behave if they were in power. Opposition leaders like Bobi Wine and Kizza Besigye, among others, have been seen humiliating and fighting those with dissenting views in their parties as well as fighting for positions and finances, something that confirms to Ugandans that these opposition politicians are actually pursuing selfish interests.
President Museveni ascended to power in 1986 with a group of ideologically focused revolutionaries with a well-laid plan to fundamentally change Uganda from the hands of incompetent leaders who had turned the country into a failed state. The same plan has been maintained and has seen 68% of Ugandans enter the money economy through different programs like Emyooga, the Parish Developmental Model, and the modernization of agriculture, the 4-acre model, and not forgetting peace and stability that has provided a conducive environment favorable for business growth.
However, the current opposition parties are ideologically bankrupt, just playing politics of deception. In fact, parties like NUP have no manifesto but spend time causing confusion and parading accident victims as torture victims for international media attention and funding for them to enrich their families. If President Museveni was this selfish, Uganda would still be in the hands of tyrants. No wonder Ugandans have refused to vote for these politicians ever since we entered multiparty politics.
Ugandans have been deceived enough by the opposition politicians. As we approach the 2026 national elections, it is time for these opposition politicians to tell Ugandans what they have done apart from fighting in parliament and boycotting parliamentary sessions, which ideally adds no value to the common man they represent.
They have played to the gallery enough, and now it is time for them to account for the time they have spent. It is also time up for those not in parliament; the era of causing chaos and deceiving for sympathy is over.
President Museveni’s achievements speak for themselves, and no amount of propaganda, hate, and denigration will stop Ugandans from voting him in in 2026.
Like any other president, Museveni has not done everything, but Ugandans know that no president will ever do everything at once. Unfortunately, the current opposition leaders, with their empty promises, deceive Ugandans into thinking they will do everything as if Ugandans are gullible, but we are watching them. Indeed, President Museveni is better than all of them combined.
