UPDF to recruit 10,000 personnel

The Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces is set to conduct a countrywide recruitment of some 10,000 personnel.

Brigadier General Felix Kulayige, the Defense spokesperson said the exercise is scheduled to start on 18th June 2022 to 4th July 2022.

“UPDF is targeting Ugandans aged 18 – 25 for the regular recruitment and 18 -30 years for professional recruitment,” a press release reads in part.

Brig. Kulayige adds that the force shall recruit a total of 8300 for the general and regular pool, 100 medical personnel, 1000 drivers and 600 Air force.

He notes that the applicants should be composed and patriotic and ready to serve the Country in the different capacities.

“Regular recruitment’s will be held in various districts, Special recruitment will be held at Kololo Airstrip, Drivers & Mechanics will go to Gadhafi Airstrip in Jinja and Air force recruitment will be done at Kololo Ceremonial grounds,” Grig Kulayige said.

According to Kulayige, the applicants must also be in good health, medically fit and ready to undergo road run and checkups.

“Regular recruits should possess a minimum education of S4 or S6 with a bias in science subjects such as physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Professionals should be holders of Degrees or Diplomas in Medicine, Engineering, Chemistry, and Education or possess qualifications in vocational skills,” He adds.
