UPDF carry out seven attacks on ADF camps in DR Cong
The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have carried out seven attacks against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
This was confirmed by H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in a press statement on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
“We are intensifying the hunt for the pigs in Congo. In the last week, we carried out seven attacks with our different air platforms and one attack by medium-range artillery. The attacks were devastating for the terrorists,” the president said.
“The six air attacks were at km 64 and 65 from the border. The one that was attacked by gunships was 3 km from the border. Uprooting Lumbugu (terrorists) in Congo is progressing well,” the president added.
The president also added that the terrorists tried to plant bombs in Kikuba-mutwe, Kabalagala area, and Nabwera 2 cell; however, due to the vigilance of the Wanainchi and the security forces, the two bombs went off without harming anybody.
“They had planted one of the bombs near a pork joint. Bazzukulu, what is a joint? I take it to mean a selling point or center, he added.
In his statement, the president points out how the rebels have been sending small groups of infiltrators like the group of Njovu that killed the tourists.
Njovu was arrested, and three of his group were killed. About seven members of his group escaped, and the security forces are hunting them in the Kibaale National Park area.
According to the president, that group is led by Kamusu, a Congolese. Their other leader in Congo is Abu Waqas, an Arab from Tanzania whose camp is one of those that were attacked by our forces.
The President further urged people in churches, markets, mosques, and bars, among others, to be vigilant and look out for strangers. Maintain the vigilance until we finish uprooting the Lumbugu in Congo.
President Museveni thanked H.E. Tshisekedi of DR Congo for allowing the UPDF to deal with Lumbugu.
