The Uganda People’s Congress(UPC) opposition party has cautioned electoral stakeholders including the Electoral Commission(EC), political parties, security agencies, and party candidates against all forms of election malpractices.

“On a serious note, we call upon the Independence Electoral Commission, political parties, security agencies among other stakeholders to desist from any form of election malpractices, unlawful arrests, violence, and ballot staffing among others,” Arach Oyat Sharon the UPC  spokesperson said.

Arach made the revelations during the party’s weekly press conference held at party headquarters offices located at the Uganda house building in Kampala on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Jimmy Akena, the party President said that he is armed to fight against those who would attempt to steal votes. He said that the same is the reason why he has continued to hold the ground in Dokolo until the last vote is cast, counted, and declared.

“We have come here for serious business to win the Dokolo by-election on  Thursday, March 21, 2024. I can assure you that your vote will be protected. I am not leaving Dokolo until the last vote is cast, counted and declared and if anyone has any tricks for rigging is going to meet Akena here,” Akena said.

Arach also called upon the members of  Dokolo to rise early tomorrow, line up, and vote for UPC’s Sarah Ahuti Nyanfkori as the next District Woman member of parliament.

According to the electoral road map for Dokolo District, candidates will be voted on Thursday, March 21 2024 after which the winner will be declared.

The District Woman Representative seat for Dokolo became vacant following the death of the former Representative (MP), the Hon. Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal, which occurred on January 18, 2024.
