The United Kingdom (UK) and United States of America (USA), air defense forces have helped Israel to shoot down close to 300 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) flying over Jordan, Iraq and Syria that were destined to launch a blunt attack, and prevented an uncontrollable escalation on the Night of April 13, 2024.

According to the Israeli news reports a mass of Iran drones and cruise missiles approached the border of Israel. Israel, UK and US air defense forces twisted their fighter jets and intercepted the approaching projectiles and destroyed them.

“The drones were brought down over the east bank of the Jordan River, heading in the direction of Jerusalem, while others were intercepted close to the Iraq-Syrian border, “the Israel news reported.

Joe Biden the US President, in a statement said that, the US had built up its forces in the run-up to the widely telegraphed attack, and the reinforcements paid off.

“At my direction to support the defense of Israel, the US military moved its ballistic missile defense destroyers to the region over the course of the past week, thanks to the deployment and extraordinary skill of our service members, we helped Israel take down nearly all the incoming drones and Missiles, “reads part of the statement.

The UK’s defense Ministry in a statement also revealed that, their Royal Air force fighter jets and refueling aircrafts have been moved to the region, saying that it will boost operation shader, a UK’s existing counter –Daesh operation in Iraq and Syria.

“In response to increased Iranian threats and growing risk of escalation in the Middle east , the UK government has been working with partners across the region to encourage de-escalation and prevent further attacks, and our jets will intercept any airborne attacks within range of our existing missions as required, “ a defense ministry statement reads in part.

Antonio Guterres the Secretary General of the United Nations in a written statement has condemned the serious escalation represented by the large scale attacks launched on Israel by Iran and called for an immediate end of these hostilities, saying that neither the region nor the world can afford a war.

“I am deeply alarmed about the very real danger of a devastating region wide escalation. I urge all parties to exercise maximum restraint to avoid any action that could lead to major military confrontations on multiple fronts in the Middle East,” reads part of the statement.

Gilad Erdan the Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, in a letter addressed to the President of the Security Council of the United Nations His Excellency Mrs. Vanessa Frazier on April 13, 2024, had expressed his outrage regarding the continuous attacks launched by Iranian regime against the state of Israel.

He noted that, it undermines the Security Council’s resolutions, fosters instability and posses a grave threat to the international peace and security.

“ Today Iran has launched a direct attack from within its territory of more than 200 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), cruise missiles and ballistic missiles towards Israel , a clear violation of UN Charter and international law. Iran has also publically taken pride in the attacks, the attack is a severe and dangerous escalation,” Erdan said.

He further noted that, he confirms Israel’s request to convene a meeting of the Security Council immediately to unequivocally condemn Iran for these grave violations and immediately act to designate the IRGC  as a terrorist organization.

Hamas launched brutal attacks against Israel on October 7, 2023 and the attacks have been ongoing for the last six months, with lots of lives lost either side and with no definite solution, inspite of calls from international bodies to end the escalations.
