Uganda and the Netherlands have agreed to build stronger bilateral relations that focus on fostering the socio-economic development of both countries.

This was during a meeting between the two parties as Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen Abubakher Jeje Odongo, was receiving copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Uganda, H.E. Frederieke Quispel, at the ministry’s headquarters.

In a statement issued on August 2, 2024, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gen Odongo warmly welcomed Ambassador Quispel, highlighting the enduring and beneficial relations between Uganda and the Netherlands.

“I have confidence that Ambassador Quispel’s tenure will further fortify the strong bilateral relations between Uganda and the Kingdom of the Netherlands,’’ he said.

Ambassador Quispel and Gen Odongo’s discussions reaffirmed a commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, focusing on key areas such as agriculture, education, and support for civil society organizations.

Both parties emphasized the importance of a multifaceted partnership to achieve shared developmental goals.

H.E. Frederieke Quispel has previous experience on the African continent, as she has previously worked as First Secretary at the Netherlands Embassy in Bujumbura, Burundi, from October 2010 to April 2012, and also as the Second Secretary at the Netherlands Embassy in Kigali, Rwanda, from August 2006 to September 2008.
