PROVISIONAL RESULTS: NRM Candidate Engola Leading in Oyam North By-Election

The provisional results released from Oyam North has placed the ruling NRM Candidate, Samuel Engola Junior, in the lead against three other candidates.

A source on ground has revealed that Engola largely won from Oyam Town Council, Iceme, Ngai, and Abok Sub Counties.

Dr. Eunice Apio Otuku, the UPC party Candidate is trailing second having won from Aleka, Achaba and Otwal Sub Counties in her home area.

Four candidates, including NRM-Samuel Engola Junior, UPC-Dr. Eunice Apio, Daniel Okello of FDC, and Newton Okello of NUP,  are battling in the by-election to replace the former Minister, Col. (Rtd) Charles Okello Engola Macodwogo, who was assassinated in May by the bodyguard at his home in Kisasi.

Simon Byabakama, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, is in Oyam District, supervising the by-election himself.
