Nyekundeire, a group of supporters of NRM Supporters from Kanungu District have endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as their sole candidate for the 2026 presidential elections.

The decision by the group was made by a section of their leaders during a meeting that was held at Kihihi Town Council grounds over the weekend on 3rd December. The meeting focused on strengthening their capacity and devising ways on how to benefit from government projects to improve their living standards.

According to Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, the NRM Deputy Treasurer, the people of Kanungu need to rally behind President Yoweri Museveni because of his contribution towards the infrastructure development which has improved trade and transport in the area.

“When we talk about infrastructure, we used to take so many hours to travel to Kampala but now we find it a short distance due to better roads, and services have been brought closer to the people. The reason people of Kanungu need to support President Museveni,” Kyatuhaire said.

She urged that all members of Nyekundeire village should engage in development activities which will enhance per-capita income.

The leaders of Nyekundiire group said that President Museveni is still fit and outsmarts most young people who want to contest for presidency.

Dr. Ahumed Kabushenga, a member of the NRM party also asked members to engage in development activities so as to benefit from good governance.

Regardless of how the President has not declared whether he will stand again, several groups have come up to endorse him as a sole candidate for 2026 Presidential elections, the recent one being the Youths during Patriotism for Youth and Investment Symposium at Kololo on 3rd December 2022.
