The president of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, Robert Kyagulanyi, is currently abroad seeking financial support. There are concerns that upon his return, he plans to organize an unauthorized procession from Entebbe Airport to Kampala, potentially inciting violence.
The police have suspended NUP’s mobilization tours due to their inciting nature and the spread of hate speeches among the public. However, Bobi Wine has covertly orchestrated a confrontation with the security forces in order to challenge the Police’s decision to suspend his mobilization tours in Kampala.
“We should work together and remove Museveni; our team has already started with the tribalism exhibition. My people will join us when I return home, and we will continue from there. We will make sure we tour Kampala and Musaka with or without the police’s authorization,” said Kyagulanyi.
However, Mathias Mpuuga, Leader of Opposition in Parliament, representing Nyendo-Mukungwe Division on a NUP ticket, and Medard Sseggona representing Busiro East-Wakiso district on a NUP ticket, have strongly advised against the intended planned showdown with the police.
“We do not agree with Bobi Wine’s methods of holding such a procession; lives will be lost and property destroyed; we all know what happens when you confront the law enforcement officers; it is the innocent youths who suffer consequences, we should not put our people through such,” Sseggona said.
They both noted that there are better ways of solving issues than using violence and confrontational methods.
NUP supporters have always criticised Mpuuga for seeking a different path of diplomacy in solving disputes and accused him of being a mole. However, this time around, he is joined by Sseggona.
