The leadership of Lango Cultural Foundation, LCF, headed by the outgoing Paramount Chief, Yosam Odur, has welcomed the Monday, October 28th, 2024 ruling by the High Court sitting in Lira City that banned all the activities in preparation to enthrone his successor, Ambassador Dickson Ogwang Okul.

In a statement issued by Jacob Ocen, the spokesperson of the Cultural Foundation, the temporary setback does not diminish their commitment to serving the Lango community.

“Today, the court has granted an interim injunction, temporarily halting some of our activities pending the final judgment of the main suit. This decision will be delivered in three days. We will continue to advocate for our vision and remain steadfast in our pursuit of a brighter future for all,” Ocen said.

Ocen said, “While we acknowledge this development, we want to assure you that our resolve remains unwavering. We are confident in the strength of our case and believe that justice will prevail.”

“Together, we will overcome this challenge and build a stronger, more united Lango community under the Anointed Successor who is elected by the People of Lango both at home and abroad, H. H. Ambassador Dickson Ogwang Okul,” Ocen added.

A ruling stemmed from an application filed by Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune, the Won Nyaci elect of Lango, Willy Omodo, the Speaker of Tekwaro Lango, and George Ojwang Opoto.

Justice Phillip Odoki, the presiding Judge issued a temporary injunction restraining Ambassador Dickson Ogwang Okul from taking over office of Won Nyaci.

The court further stopped him from carrying out any activity that portrays him as Won Nyaci elect of the Lango Cultural Foundation.

“In the end, I find that this application has merit; it is accordingly granted. The respondents and their agents are hereby restrained from participating in any activity leading to the handover of the office of the Paramount Chief of Lango to the 3rd respondent (Ogwang Okul), informing the Minister responsible for culture that the 3rd applicant is the newly elected Paramount Chief for the purpose of causing his name to be published in the gazette, and carrying out any other acts to portray the 3rd respondent as the Paramount Chief of Lango pending the final determination of the civil suit no. 10 of 2014.” Reads part of the ruling.

The costs of this application shall abide by the outcome of civil suit no. 10 of 2024,” reads part of the ruling.

A source revealed that Ambassador Dickson Ogwang Okul had already foreseen this and decided to advise H. E. the President and postpone his installation pending the Judgement scheduled for October 31st, 2024.
