According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson, the fire, which started at approximately 9:45 p.m., was quickly put out by the fire brigade that responded swiftly to the incident.

“Yesterday, 19.04.2023 at approximately 9:45 p.m., the fire prevention and rescue services responded to a fire outbreak at the Ntinda Police Station, traffic office, and barracks. The team acted swiftly and managed to put out the fire. Investigators have moved in to ascertain the exact cause of the fire,” police tweeted.

However, according to the preliminary findings, the fire started in the barracks as a result of negligence and spread to the nearest traffic office.

It is also alleged that two children set the fire inside the barracks, which afterward came in contact with electric cables, police added.

Police would like to thank the fire prevention and rescue services for their prompt response and commend them for their bravery in putting out the fire.
