The Territorial Police in Kampala Metropolitan North and Nansana Division are guarding Kasirye Faizo for attempted suicide by burning after he was rejected by a married woman with three children.

According to the police spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga, a 26-year old bricklayer from Kazinga-Nsumbi, will be arraigned in court as soon as he is discharged from the hospital.

“The facts gathered indicate that Kasirye Faizo has been stalking Namakula Nally Deborah for several years with the full knowledge that she is married to Ssenabulya Michael,” Said Enanga.

He added that on July 23, 2023, at around 11 p.m., Kasirye’s advances were again rejected by the victim, who was in the company of her two friends at the meeting point bar, Kamukamu, for a music show. After the show, the woman victim boarded a boda boda at around 2 p.m. and returned to her home.

SCP Enanga said that the following day, July 24, 2023, residents found that Kasirye had poured paraffin and set himself on fire stating that he wanted to kill himself because Namakula Nally, a married woman, had rejected his love.

He revealed that the whole body got burned, and the skin fully peeled off. However, the male victim was rescued by Kyebando police and rushed to Mulago Hospital.

“We totally discourage such acts where persons commit or attempt to commit suicide, over a love rejection or recent breakup. Emotions can be tough to take when you are feeling lonely. It’s better to recognise that one’s life is precious and worth more than any relationship. You can therefore, help yourself by taking control of your emotions and finding ways to heal,” he said.

The police spokesperson has condemned such acts, calling upon people to always seek counselling and guidance from professionals when going through such tough situations.
