Another day, another attack on security agents in the country. The latest attack came in Kisoro district against the commander of the 52nd battalion whose vehicle was hit and windshield destroyed while enforcing the night time curfew.

Only two days back a soldier on patrol was attacked and his eye damaged as he participated in a night time patrol. Other security agents have been attacked since the night time curfew was announced.

Whereas the incidents appear to be isolated, it is concerning that thugs intending to disrupt the peace of Ugandans have decided to take advantage of the situation and at the same time inflict damage on those charged with maintaining peace and sanity to the population.

The cases of violence have also come after security had chosen to use diplomacy and literacy to enforce the lockdown. This therefore points to organized entities aiming at tarnishing the image of the security forces so as to solicit a reaction.

The UPDF which has led the night time patrols has cautioned individuals against this kind of behavior and have warned that Stern and decisive action shall be taken against culprits as acts against security are acts of treason and terrorism.
