Aguti, UPC’s Candidate, Wins Dokolo Woman MP By-Election

Sarah Aguti, the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) candidate in the just concluded by-election for the position of Woman Member of Parliament of Dokolo District, has been declared the winner.

Aguti won the election with 23,044 of the total votes.

Janet Adongo Rose Alau, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate, came in second with 14,001 votes, while Dr. Rose Ogwal, the FDC candidate and the late Cecilia Ogwal’s daughter, came in third with 8,168 votes.

The candidates included Adongo Janet Rose Elau Okello (NRM), Ageno Harriet (NUP), Aguti Sarah (UPC), Akullo Esther-Obot (Independent), Alwoc Austin Ogwal Rosemary (FDC), Arao Rebecca (Independent), and Lalam Grace Hanna (Independent).

The seven candidates were competing to fill the position of Dokolo District Woman Parliamentary Representative in the concluded by-election after it fell vacant after the death of Cecilia Ogwal on January 18 this year.
