The Electoral Commission has kicked off display of the voters’ register for Parliamentary and Local Government Councils by-elections in Kisoro District.

Robert Bienne, the EC South-western regional supervisor, said the exercises started on Monday, October 14th, and will run until October 23rd, 2024.

He adds the exercise shall run from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily, including weekends, in all the polling stations in Kisoro district.

“The purpose of this display exercise is to enable voters to check the correctness of their particulars on the voters’ register and raise objections to the inclusion and/or removal of a voter’s particulars from the register,” Bienne said.

Bienne noted that the final list of all persons recommended for deletion from/or inclusion on the register will also be displayed from October 23rd to October 28th, 2024, at the respective parish/ward headquarters.

The parliamentary seat for Kisoro District Woman MP felt vacant following the death of Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi, which occurred on September 7, 2024. The commission has slated the by-election for November 14th, 2024.
