Prof. Byakika-Kibwika Appointed as New VC of Mbarara University

Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika has been appointed the new Vice Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), replacing Prof. Obua, who took office in 2014.

This was announced by Dr. Warren Naamara, the chairperson of the MUST Governing Council.

Vice Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology’’ stated Dr. Warren Naamara.

Prof. Pauline emerged victorious from a group of four candidates from the public presentations for the Vice Chancellor position that was held on July 29, 2024, at the university, becoming the first female to head the university.

She has previously worked at Makerere University College of Health Sciences as an Associate Professor of Medicine, and her latest position was Professor of Internal Medicine and Epidemiology at Makerere University.

Prof. Pauline holds a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics and a Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine, both from Makerere University. She also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.

She becomes the third Vice Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.
